The initial trial date of November 9 has since been delayed at today’s sitting of the Newry Crown

THE Trial date of Armagh All Ireland winning GAA star Aiden Nugent will be set early into next month a judge in Newry has indicated.

Nugent (32) of Cullyhanna Road Newtownhamilton, faces counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault by penetration dating back to November 2024.

It is understood that the charges faced by Nugent relate to an incident alleged to have occurred whenever he and his former Armagh All Ireland winning football team mates travelled to Miami Florida to celebrate his teams victory in the Men's Senior Gaelic football All Ireland match.

Although an initial trial start date was set for November 9, this has since been set aside in favour of Judge Paul Ramsey KC opting to set a new date on November 9 for the trial to begin.

Nugent, who was not present in court, had previously entered a plea of not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
