Warrenpoint man fined for excess speed

HAVING a car he owned being detected as driving at excess speed within the vicinity of the Rostrevor Road Hilltown has resulted in a Warrenpoint man receiving a fine and penalty points during a sitting of Newry Magistrates.

Facing the single charge before the court was Barry Digney of (44) of Clonallon Road , Warrenpoint. The court heard how Digney's vehicle had been detected as travelling at a speed of 46 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone situated on the Rostrevor Road Hilltown and this was due to being late to collect his two children.

Disposing of the case District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons opted to impose upon Digney a fine of £125.00 with an offender levy of £15 whilst endorsing three penalty points on his licence.
