Full admissions to no insurance at scene

Finances had got on top of defendant following relationship breakdown court hears
MAKING full admissions to having driven his car without a policy of insurance in force has resulted in an Annalong man receiving fines and penalty points during a sitting of the local magistrates.Facing a single charge of no insurance before the court was Shane McBurney (32) of Dunmore Avenue Annalong.
The court heard how on August 21 of this year at 1.25pm police on mobile patrol observed a Volkswagen Passat driving within the vicinity of Mullartown Heights, Annalong.Checks showed no valid policy of insurance on the vehicle. Upon stopping the car officers would speak to the driver, the defendant, McBurney who made full admissions at the scene to driving without insurance.
Addressing the court defence explained how there had been a breakdown in a relationship McBurney was in, that this had seen his finances get on top of him and that he had missed insurance payments as a result.
He had however thankfully obtained a valid policy of insurance by the date of his courtroom sitting.
Disposing of the case District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons would impose upon McBurney a fine of £300 whilst endorsing six penalty points on his licence affording him with 16 weeks to pay the financial penalty.
