Newry woman ran across A1 Dual Carriageway

Vehicles had to stop in her wake of defendant running across carriageway
NEWRY Magistrates court has heard how a woman with an address in the city proceeded to run across the A1 Dual carriageway Loughbrickland after becoming involved with an altercation with the police.
Appearing before the court via videolink from custody was Nora Zoe Flynn (31) of Rockmount Close Newry. Flynn faced counts of disorderly behaviour , obstruction of a road and obstructing police dating back to February 20 of this year as well as as a further count of disorderly behaviour dating back to September 13 of this year.
Regarding the charges which Flynn faced dating back to February 20 the court would hear how police on mobile patrol within the vicinity of the A1 Dual Carriageway, Loughbrickland had cause to stop a vehicle which they had previously received a report had been driven by an intoxicated driver.
When conducting enquires regarding if the driver of this vehicle was intoxicated, the defendant Flynn, who was a passenger in the vehicle continually interrupted attempts on the part of officers to administer a preliminary breathe test by repeatedly trying to give the driver of the vehicle a cigarette.
The court would hear how Flynn's level of interference would escalate to such an extent wherein she, the driver of the vehicle and a police officer would all find themselves on the ground.
It was after this Flynn would run across the A1 Dual carriageway causing vehicles to stop in her wake before running back across the central reservation wherein she would return to the scene of the incident and shout in another police officer's face.
Flynn would only be subdued when other officers arrived on the scene and arrested her before escorting her to Daisy Hill hospital.
Regarding the single charge of disorderly behaviour which Flynn faced dating back to September 13 the court would also hear how at 4.30am on this date police would receive a report of a disturbance at the home address of the defendant. Upon arrival police would find Flynn standing outside her property shouting and swearing loudly. When the 31 year old was asked to calm down by officers she would continue to short and swear with the court hearing that this was of such a magnitude that it woke Flynn's neighbours who they themselves also attempted to calm her down.
After refusing to desist with her behaviour police had no choice built to arrest Flynn with the court hearing how when handcuffs were applied Flynn proceeded to tell the officers "F**k your arrest, F**k you black bastards, and get your "f*king hands of me". She was then brought to Daisy Hill where she was subsequently released.Addressing the court a defence solicitor would describe Flynn as being an individual who suffers from a range of mental health issues."
She is lucky the incident in February did not have a tragic ending. She was the passenger in the vehicle and tried to intervene. She has a number of mental health issues including ADHD. She is entirely ashamed but made pleas at the earliest opportunity.Commenting on the incident that occurred on February 20 Deputy District Judge Archer would describe Flynn as a "danger to herself and other road users"" She was a danger to herself and other road users.
You are 31 years of age. You really have to get a grip of your life otherwise prison is just going to be a revolving door for you. There is help for you out there but you have to make the conscious decision to get it."
Disposing of the case Judge Archer would impose upon Flynn a custodial sentence for one month whilst activating a suspended sentence she was already on at the time of offending, with both sentences to run consecutively. Judge Archer would also impose upon Flynn a monetary penalty of £400.
